The F Sharp Major Scale
The F Sharp Major Scale has 6 sharps. Below are the degrees, letters and pattern of whole steps and half-steps needed as explained in the Guitar Scales lesson. EXAMPLE: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8F G A B C D E Fw w h w w w hRemember to retain the sharps from the previous scale which in this case are: F#, G#, A#, C# and D#. The new sharp will always come in at the 7th degree giving us E#. Now this is where it's easy to get confused. Remember that it is always a half-step from E to F, so when you are playing "E#" you are actually on F! But in this situation, because we are building a scale, it is referred to as E#. Our 6 sharps for this key are: F# G# A# C# D# and E#. F SHARP MAJOR = F# G# A# B C# D# E# F#
