The A Major Scale
The A Major Scale has 3 sharps. Below are the degrees, letters and pattern of whole steps and half-steps. EXAMPLE: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 A B C D E F G A w w h w w w hRemember to retain the sharps from the previous scale which in this case are C# and F#. The new sharp will always come in at the 7th degree giving us G# for this key. So our 3 sharps are C#, F# and G#. This is a little "shortcut" you can use that will also conform to the pattern of whole steps and half-steps as explained in the lesson on Guitar Scales. A MAJOR = A B C# D E F# G# A
